CEREMONY & Reception

4:00 – 5:30 pm Refreshments for the graduates & family/friends
- Located in the Student Commons at Minnesota West - Canby Campus
5:30 pm Pick up name card & line up alphabetically by program
- Located in the old gym area Canby High School
6:00 pm Graduation Ceremony
- Located in the new gym Canby High School

CAP/GOWN/TASSEL

Your cap, gown, tassel, and any honors cords (if applicable) will be available for pick-up May 4–7 from 8 am-4 pm, Friday, May 8 from 8 am-1 pm, and May 11 from 8 am-4 pm in the Student Services Office, AFTER you have submitted the following information:

Submit the Application for Graduation Form
Complete the Job Placement Form
Complete Loan Exit Counseling (if necessary)

Gowns will be returned to Minnesota West at the end of the commencement ceremony – you may keep the cap, tassel, and cords.

How to Wear Your Graduation Cap and Tassel

Caps, tassels and high honors, honor and veteran’s cords are yours to keep. Gowns are provided at no cost (along with Phi Theta Kappa stole) and must be returned to Student Services immediately after the graduation ceremony.

Cap: Position the cap so that one of its points is centered in the front, creating a diamond shape when viewed from above. Adjust it snugly on your head so the top lies flat against your scalp, not tilted upward or perched lightly on your hair.
Tassel: Begin with the tassel hanging on the right side of your face. After receiving your diploma and being announced as the graduating class, move the tassel to the left side. Keep it there until you remove your cap following the ceremony.

Student Information

Please be at the Ceremony location a half-hour before the start time, dressed in your cap and gown. We will all line up to walk into the commencement together.
